Intern Orientation Program

Intern Orientation 

(1) Orientation by RH intern coordinator

• Usually within first Wednesday of each rotation
• Time: 1400-1500
• Place: LG1 Lecture Theatre
• Person: by Dr. Chan Pierre

(2) Medication Incidents Orientation Program

• Usually on the second Thursday of each rotation
• By Dr. Teresa Yu
• Time: 1300-1400 (lunch provided)
• Place: LG1 Lecture Theatre

(2) RH Intern Training Program 

You are invited to join the following protected teaching/ education activities:

(2a) Practice-Tip Workshops biweekly;   Timetable

(2b) Consultant led Teaching Grand Round on every Wed  starting at 1645 in 7/F MO room.

(2c) Departmental Journal Club on every Wed at 1500-1600 in LG1 lecture theatre

(2d) Subspecialty Grand Round (monthly)

(2e) Formal meeting with supervisor 沛然飯局 (monthly)

• 季季紅酒家 restaurant  (1300-1400), then gather in Room 714, Admin Building (1400-1430)
• Monthly Logbook review
• Prepare 5 discharge summaries (note down the HN number is ok)

RH Intern Clinical Duty

(3) Intern Clinical Duty

In the ward... 

• Handling of both emergency and clinical admission
• Responsible one ward for each intern, about 30 beds.
• Please prepare some cases in your ward for supervised ward round by consultants/SMO/AC (at least 3x/week).
• Discharge summary writing supervision (by intern supervisor/ coordinator)
• We have phlebotomy service during office hours.

In the clinic...

• Attend out-patient clinic (at least once /week)

On call...

• Our on call duty is no more than one in every 3 nights. 
• We have compensation for working on statutory holidays (What is statutory holiday?).

• Designated mentor/supervisor/ coordinator for the interns

• Intern supervisor/ mentor for the whole 3-month rotation = SMO or AC in your ward at the first month
• Your intern logbook will be reviewed monthly by Dr. Pierre Chan

• Our Library is located at LG1.

• Computer facilities are available at various sites
• Medical wards A9/B7/A7 (during office hours, after office hours and 24-hour)
• Library at LG1 13:00 to 18:00 Mon to Fri
• Canteen at LG1 07:00 to 20:00 Mon to Sun
• Staff Club House at Admin Building 2/F, 06:00 to 23:00 Mon to Sun
• Internet account and departmental account can be applied through our secretary Miss Tiffany or Miss Janice
